Frequently Asked Questions

If I want to talk about starting therapy, where do I begin?

Be sure and click the contact button in the upper right and I will reach out to you to schedule a 15-minute phone consultation.

What will a 15-minute phone consultation look like?

This is a time for me to get to know what brings you to therapy and for you to get to know a little more about me. At the end of the phone call, we can either move forward, or I can help provide you with some referrals to other therapists who might be a good fit.

Do you offer Telehealth sessions?

Yes, I do offer sessions via a HIPPA-compliant video service.

Do you take insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider and do not directly take insurance (most PPO plans allow you to see an out-of-network therapist).  Call your insurance for verification.  I will then provide you with a “Superbill” that provides all the information necessary you need for reimbursement.  I’m delighted to address any questions you may have on this process.

How long are sessions?

All sessions are between 45 - 50 minutes in length. We can chat about extending the sessions.

How many sessions will I need?

Every client is different, so depending on what you are bringing to the session, this may vary.

What will happen in our first session?

We spend the first session getting to know one another.  Together, we will narrow down the issues you want to work on, the outcome you desire, and the history of the problem.  We also devote some time to address any questions you may have for me regarding the therapy process.  My personal goal for you is to leave our first session feeling seen, supported, and secure.

What is the cost of a session?

My session fee is $130. I am open to having a conversation regarding a the fee.

What does it mean that you have a supervisor?

Having a supervisor means I have graduated with my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy; however, I am still acquiring hours toward licensure. I meet with my supervisor weekly to discuss my cases and ensure I provide the best quality care to my precious clients.

Do you integrate faith into sessions?

My clients are a collectively oriented bunch (they vary in culture, ethnic background, and beliefs).  I welcome clients’ beliefs and values within the therapeutic space. I am a Christian Chicana, but I work with Christians, Catholics, and non-Christians/ Catholics. I focus on helping clients work through the issues they bring into counseling. I am comfortable in working with whatever issues someone brings to therapy, regardless of religious perspectives. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please feel free to contact me.

What is your approach to therapy?

My work focuses on viewing my clients through the Attachment Theory lens. Our Primary relationships shape our emotional, social, and relational development. Identifying the root of one’s issues can foster healing, not a quick fix—you are worthy of more than a quick fix.
